Wabi-Sabi Art Workshop: Mixed Media Techniques for Embracing Imperfection and Celebrating Happy Accidents
by Serena Barton
New!:
Mixed Media
The reader will first be introduced to what Wabi-Sabi means and how to use such an approach to find inspiration and beauty in what would be considered ordinary-the imperfect, the impermanent, the aged and the humble nature of everyday objects in our homes and in nature. The author will include photographs she has taken outside and in her home that express the Wabi-Sabi style and will show how they serve as inspiration for color, shape, texture, composition and mood. After learning where to look for inspiration and a rundown of media used in the book, the reader will be guided step-by-step through eight technique chapters each with a new focus on painting technique and composition. Techniques include things like painting with a knife, incorporating used teabags and stained shop towels, playing with torn paper, torching wax and many ways of layering for texture and depth. Throughout the techniques, finished gallery pieces and pretty photos from the author will provide plenty of eye candy and inspiration.
